For one last time this year, good morning, everyone!

You did it! You managed to make it to the last scheduled day of the 2019-2020 school year, and what a year it's been. To all of you, including those of you who I haven't had the opportunity to connect with in these last few days, it has been a pleasure being your teacher this past year. It has been a year unlike any other, though I am extremely grateful to have been able to spend time teaching and learning with you both in the classroom and online. I hope you have a memorable summer in which you continue to learn in whatever forms, and about whatever topics, are enjoyable to you.

Your report cards will be available for pickup from the school's office on Friday, June 26th. A digital copy will also be posted on your FreshGrade page around noon today.

This week, be sure to submit all assignments under the "June 22 - June 26" activity on FreshGrade.

2. Poetry

Each week we are going to learn about a new type of poem. Complete each daily task so that you are ready to create the best possible poem that you can at the end of the week.

THIS WEEK'S POEM: Tanka

At first glance, the tanka looks just like a haiku that is extended by two lines. The tanka, from the Japanese word for "short poem," is a five-line poem that uses strong images to establish a mood. Literary devices like metaphor, simile, and personification are often found in tanka. A tanka generally has 31 syllables spread over five lines in this way: 5-7-5-7-7. Read the examples below.

Today, you will create a good copy of your poem. You will need to color and add illustrations. Try to include drawings of things related to the theme of your poem or details about you. See the example below. Upload your poem to FreshGrade by Monday evening.

3. Financial Literacy
TODAY'S QUESTIONS:
What do you think would be a considerable weekly entertainment budget?

Write down your answers to the daily question and save them. We will discuss these during next week’s scheduled Teams meetings.

4. Origami
